Bob Goody, the actor and writer best known for his work on the BBC comedy series "Wilderness Road" and "Smith and Goody," has died at the age of 71. Goody, who co-wrote "Wilderness Road" with Johnè‹‘Smith, also starred in the show alongside Smith. He also had a recurring role in the BBC sitcom "Lifeforce." The cause of death was not immediately released.

Goody was born in Brighton, Sussex, England, on April 16, 1951. He began his acting career in the early 1970s, appearing in small roles in television shows such as "The Sweeney" and "Dixon of Dock Green." In 1981, he joined the cast of the National Theatre's production of "Other Lives," which also starred Patrick Barlow.

Goody's big break came in 1983 when he co-wrote and starred in "Wilderness Road." The show, which ran for three seasons, followed the adventures of two friends who traveled around the British countryside in a camper van. "Wilderness Road" was a critical and commercial success, and it helped to establish Goody as one of the leading comedians of his generation.

After "Wilderness Road" ended, Goody continued to work in television and film. He had a recurring role in the BBC sitcom "Lifeforce," and he also appeared in the films "The Pirates of Penzance" (1983) and "The Tall Guy" (1989). In recent years, Goody had been working as a writer and director for the stage.

Goody's death is a great loss to the British comedy world. He was a talented actor and writer who brought joy to millions of people. He will be sadly missed.
